Formosa Strait: The Formosa Strait is a strait in the Pacific Ocean that separates China and Taiwan and connects the South China Sea and the East China Sea. It is located in the Pacific Ocean. It was formerly known as the Taiwan Strait. It is known as the Strait of Fokien to the Chinese and is called the Black Ditch in the Hakka language. The maximum width of the strait is 180 km and the minimum width is 130 km. Currently, there is a dispute between China and the United States over this strait.

Strait of Tartary: The Strait of Tartary is a strait in the Pacific Ocean that separates Sakhalin Island from the Russian mainland and connects the Sea of ​​Okhotsk to the north and the Sea of ​​Japan to the south. Corfu Strait: The Corfu Strait is a narrow strait between the Greek island of Corfu in the Ionian Sea to the west and Albania and the Greek mainland to the east, connecting the Adriatic Sea to the north and the Ionian Sea to the south. On 22 October 1946, the strait was the scene of a clash between the British and Albanian navies, which was referred to the International Court of Justice and settled in December 1949 after a lengthy trial.

Cook Strait: The Cook Strait is a strait that divides New Zealand into the North Island and the South Island and connects the Tasman Sea to the northwest and the South Pacific Ocean to the southeast. It is named after British explorer James Cook, who first crossed the strait in 1770. The strait is known in the local Māori language as “Moana-o-Raukawa”. The narrowest part of the strait is between Picton on the South Island and Wellington on the North Island.

Mozambique Channel: The Mozambique Channel is a watershed between the mainland of Mozambique in the southeastern part of Africa and the island of Madagascar in the Indian Ocean. The length of this channel is about 1,600 km and the width at its narrowest point is 419 km. The maximum depth is about 3,300 m. The southern part of this channel extends along the southern part of this channel.

North Channel: The North Channel is a narrow water body between Northern Ireland and Scotland in the United Kingdom, which connects the North Atlantic Ocean to the north and the Irish Sea to the south. The narrowest part of this channel is 19 km wide, known as the Straits of Moyle. The deepest part of the channel is called Beaufort’s Dyke, which is essentially a sea trench. This trench was discovered in 1856. The strait is 50 km long, 3.5 km wide and 200-300 m deep.

The Arabic word “Bab el-Mandeb” means “Gate of Tears”. Bab el-Mandeb connects the Indian Ocean to the Mediterranean Sea through the Red Sea and the Suez Canal. Sunda Strait: The narrow body of water separating the two islands of the Indonesian archipelago, namely Sumatra in the north and Java in the south, located in the Indian Ocean, is known as the Sunda Strait. This strait connects the Java Sea of ​​the Pacific Ocean to the east and the Indian Ocean to the west. The minimum width of this strait is 24 km and the average depth is 20 m.
