🔹In 1930, the second Nobel Prize came to India from the hands of Indian physicist and India’s first national professor Chandrasekhar Venkata Raman. Chandrasekhar won this award in recognition of his discovery of “The Raman Effect” on February 28, 1928, which is considered the first Nobel Prize won by an Asian and a non-white person in any branch of science. Currently, February 28 is celebrated as National Science Day in India. In 1954, Chandrasekhara Venkata Raman, along with Rajagopalachari, the first Governor General of independent India, and Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, the Indian philosopher, received the Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian honor.
