Static GK Universe in English P-2
Static GK Universe
General knowledge questions are common in competitive exams held at the all-India or state level. Furthermore, the scope of general knowledge is also vast. By studying static GK questions from various topics, we will discuss several specific topics in detail. In this case, the topic being discussed is Static GK Universe.

26. What is Diffuse Nebula?
A: This type of nebula is a gas or light-emitting nebula composed of interstellar dust and gas.
27. How many types of Diffuse Nebula?
A: Diffuse Nebula is again divided into two parts, namely: a) Dark Nebula and b) Luminous Nebula
28. What is Dark Nebula?
A: When a nebula hides a luminous source in its center in a gaseous envelope, it is called a Dark Nebula. The Horsehead Nebula in Orion is an example of such a nebula.
29. What is a Luminous Nebula?
A: When a nebula is illuminated by the light of a nearby star or constellation, that type of nebula is called a Luminous Nebula. The NGC 604 nebula in the Nestled Galaxy is an example of such a nebula.
30. How many types of Luminous Nebula are there?
A: Luminous Nebula is divided into two types: Reflection Nebula and Emission Nebula
31. What is Reflection Nebula?
A: When a nebula does not emit its own light but scatters the light coming from a nearby star or constellation by its gaseous cloud, that nebula is called a Reflection Nebula. This type of nebula mainly emits blue light.
32. What is an Emission Nebula?
A: When ultraviolet rays are emitted from a nebula containing a high-temperature gas cloud during star formation, that nebula is called an Emission Nebula. Due to the abundance of hydrogen in this type of nebula, mainly red rays are emitted. However, blue and green rays are also seen.
33. How many types of Emission Nebula are there?
A: There are two structural forms of Emission Nebula, namely: H II Region and Supernova Remnants Static GK Universe
34. What is an H II Region?
When a young nebula ionizes a nearby or neighboring cosmic interstellar cloud and causes the scattering of high-energy (10,000 Kelvin) ultraviolet rays, that condition is called an H II Region.
(Astronomers use the term “HII” to refer to Ionised Hydrogen, HI for Neutral Hydrogen).
35. What are Supernova Remnants?
A: A star is destroyed by a violent explosion, scattering stellar particles and gas. The Crab Nebula of Taurus is an example of such a condition. Static GK Universe
36. What is Planetary Nebula?
A: A planetary nebula is a nebula that occurs when a star reaches its final state and releases gas and creates a gaseous nebula. The presence of a white dwarf star at the center of such a nebula is noticeable. The Ring Nebula of Lyra is a classic example of such a nebula.
37. What are Black Holes?
A: A black hole is a special cosmic condition, in which the gravitational force generated at the center of a collapsed star is capable of pulling all the fast-moving elements around it, even light, towards itself and accumulating them. Static GK Universe
38. Who first gave the idea about the existence of a black hole?
A: In 1916, Albert Einstein gave the first idea about the existence of a black hole in his book “General Theory of Relativity”.
39. Who first used the term Black Hole?
A: American astronomer John Archibald Wheeler used the term “Black Hole” in a lecture at the NASA Goddard Institute of Space Studies (GISS) in 1967.
40. When was the first black hole discovered?
A: The first black hole to be discovered was Cygnus X-1, discovered by NASA’s Uhuru X-ray Explorer Satellite in 1971. The key players behind this discovery are Luc Braes and George K. Miley of the Leiden Observatory and Robert M. Hjellming and Campbell Wade of the National Radio Astronomy Observatory.
41. When was the first black hole imaged?
A: On April 10, 2019, Harvard University and the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics scientist Sheperd Doeleman announced at a National Press Club conference in Washington, D.C. that the black hole in Galaxy Messier 87 had been imaged. This image was collected using The Event Horizon Telescope.
42. How many layers of a black hole can be observed?
A: There are three layers of a black hole: i) Outer Event Horizon, ii) Inner Event Horizon and iii) Singularity
43. How many constellations are recognized in the universe?
A: The International Astronomical Union recognizes 88 constellations. Among them are Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpius, Sagittarius, Capricornus, Aquarius and Pisces. Hydra is the largest constellation.
44. What are the constellations in our galaxy?
A: The constellations in our galaxy are: Orion, Sagittarius, Scorpius, Carina and Ara.
45. What is a star?
A: A star is a large gaseous cosmic object that is illuminated by radiation from an internal energy source, that is, self-illuminated and has its own gravity. For example, the Sun.
46. What is a planet?
A: All cosmic objects with their own gravity that revolve around a specific star in a specific orbit are called planets. For example, the Earth.
47. What are asteroids?
A: All small and rocky cosmic objects in the solar system that revolve around the Sun in clusters are called asteroids. Basically, clusters of such cosmic objects are seen between Mars and Jupiter.
48. What is a satellite?
A: All cosmic objects that revolve around a planet in a specific orbit and at a specific time are called satellites. For example, the moon, the satellite of the Earth.
49. What is a comet?
A: All cosmic objects with a bright head and a long, steamy tail that revolve around the sun are called comets.
50. Who first discovered a comet?
A: German astronomer Gottfried Kirch discovered the first comet in 1680, which is known as C/1680 V1 or Great Comet of 1680 or Kirch’s Comet or Newton’s Comet etc.
51. What are meteors?
A: Small cosmic objects made of rocks or metals traveling in space or parts of stars that enter the Earth’s atmosphere and burn up in the collision of air and fall towards the Earth’s surface are called meteorites.
52. What is the name of the largest meteorite found on Earth?
A: The largest meteorite to date was found in Namibia in 1920, which is known as the Hoba Meteorite.
