Central TET – CTET stands for Central Teacher Eligibility Test. It is a national-level eligibility test conducted by CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) twice a year. Qualifying CTET is mandatory to get a teaching job in Central Government Schools like Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS), Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS), Central Tibetan Schools, and all schools under the control of Central Government. CTET Eligibility Criteria

CTET Paper 1 – For Becoming Teacher for Classes I to V (Primary Stage):

– Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed)
– Senior Secondary with 45% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education as per NCTE norms
– Senior Secondary with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed)
– Senior Secondary with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education)
– Graduation and passed or appearing in final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education

1. Child Development and Pedagogy (30 Marks) – Most Important
– Child Development: Concept of development, Principles of development, Influence of heredity & environment, Socialization, Piaget, Kohlberg, Vygotsky, Child-centered and Progressive Education, Critical perspective of construct of Intelligence, Multi-Dimensional Intelligence, Language & Thought, Gender, Individual differences.
– Inclusive Education: Concept of children with special needs, Addressing learners from diverse backgrounds, Addressing needs of children with learning difficulties, Talented, Creative, Specially abled Learners.
– Learning and Pedagogy: How children think and learn, Basic processes of teaching and learning, Child as a problem solver, Alternative conceptions of learning, Cognition & Emotions, Motivation and learning, Factors contributing to learning.

2. Language I & Language II (30 Marks Each)
– Language Comprehension: Unseen passages (2 passages, 1 prose, 1 poem) with questions on comprehension, inference, grammar, verbal ability.
– Pedagogy of Language Development: Learning and acquisition, Principles of Language Teaching, Role of listening and speaking, Critical perspective on role of grammar, Challenges of teaching language in diverse classroom, Language Skills, Evaluating language comprehension, Remedial Teaching.

3. Mathematics (30 Marks – Paper 1) & Maths and Science (60 Marks – Paper 2)
– Content: Number System, Algebra, Geometry, Mensuration, Data Handling, Arithmetic.
– Pedagogical Issues: Nature of Mathematics, Language of Mathematics, Community Mathematics, Evaluation through formal and informal methods, Problems of Teaching, Error analysis, Diagnostic and Remedial Teaching.

4. Environmental Studies – EVS (30 Marks – Paper 1 Only)
– Content: Family and Friends, Food, Shelter, Water, Travel, Things We Make and Do.
– Pedagogical Issues: Concept and scope of EVS, Significance of EVS, Environmental Studies & Environmental Education, Learning Principles, Approaches of presenting concepts, Activities, Experimentation, Discussion, CCE.

5. Science (30 Marks for Paper 2 Science Group)
– Content: Food, Materials, The World of the Living, Moving Things People and Ideas, How Things Work, Natural Phenomena, Natural Resources.
