Group A: Letter to your friend about advantages and disadvantages of mobile phone.[A]

Ans:

Asansol, 05.09.2026

My dear Bappa,

I hope you are well by the grace of God. I am well too. In your last letter you asked about my opinion on mobile phone. Today I will tell you about its advantages and disadvantages as I have experienced.

Mobile phone is a wonderful and most useful invention of modern science. It has many advantages. We can talk to anyone anywhere in the world instantly. We can send messages, photos, use internet, watch YouTube, take photos and videos, and most importantly students like us can learn online, attend classes, and search Google for study materials. It has made our life very easy, fast and comfortable. For business, emergency and daily life it is essential.

But it also has many disadvantages if misused. Excess use causes eye pain, headache, back pain, loss of sleep and lack of concentration. Many students waste 5-6 hours on games like Free Fire, reels and social media, neglect studies and fail in exams. Game addiction is a big problem. Many road accidents happen because people use mobile while driving or crossing road. It also causes family distance.

So mobile is both blessing and curse. It depends on use. We should use it properly and limitedly – only 1-2 hours for study purpose, not for games.

What do you think about mobile? Write to me.

Your loving friend, Amit Das Class X, Ramakrishna Vidyapith

Letter to younger brother advising him to avoid mobile addiction.[B]

Ans:

Asansol, 05.09.2026

My dear Bhai Sumit,

I hope you are well. I am well here in hostel. I have heard from Maa that you are now highly addicted to mobile games. You play Free Fire 6 hours daily till 2 a.m., you do not go to playground, do not read books and even skip meals. I am very worried about your health and Madhyamik preparation which is after 4 months.

My dear brother, this mobile addiction is very harmful and dangerous. It will damage your eyes causing pain and power, cause headache, back pain, lack of sleep, irritability and failure in studies. I saw many students fail in Test Exam due to game addiction. It destroys future, time and money.

So I strongly advise you to avoid mobile addiction immediately. Use mobile only 1 hour daily for study purpose like online class or search. Rest time play outdoor games like football, cricket to make body fit, read story books and good science books to improve knowledge, sleep early at 10 p.m. and wake early to study.

Mobile games give only temporary fun but destroy life. Remember, Madhyamik is your future. If you follow routine from tomorrow, you will be healthy and pass with good marks.

I hope you will follow my advice and make parents proud. I will bring you a good book when I come home.

Your loving elder brother, Amit Das Class X

Alarming Mobile Addiction Among Students – Survey Report

  • By Amit Das, Student Reporter, Class X, Asansol, 15th Aug 2026

Asansol, 14th August 2026: An alarming survey on mobile addiction among students was conducted in our school Ramakrishna Vidyapith yesterday.

The survey was conducted among 100 students of Class IX and X on 14th August 2026 by our class under guidance of Headmaster and Science teacher. A questionnaire was given about daily mobile use, purpose and health problems.

The findings are shocking. 70% students use mobile 3 to 5 hours daily beyond study need, 40% play online games like Free Fire till midnight, 30% admitted they have eye pain, headache and lack of sleep due to mobile, 60% use mobile mainly for reels and social media not study. Only 20% use limitedly for study.

Teachers said due to this addiction, concentration is decreasing and results are falling. Many students sleep in class. Our Headmaster expressed deep concern and advised students to use mobile limitedly, only 1 hour for study. He called a parents-teachers meeting next week to create awareness and said school will arrange counselling and encourage outdoor games and library reading.

The survey clearly showed that awareness, discipline and parental control are urgently needed to save students from mobile addiction.

Online Classes Through Mobile During Pandemic – Boon for Students

  • By Staff Reporter, Asansol, 20th July 2021

Asansol, 19th July 2021: During Covid-19 pandemic, when schools were closed for long time, online classes through mobile became a blessing for students to continue education.

In our school Ramakrishna Vidyapith, online classes were held through mobile from April 2020 to February 2022 for almost two years. Teachers taught via Google Meet, Zoom and WhatsApp video calls as per routine. Study materials, homework and videos were shared in WhatsApp groups. Students attended classes from home through mobile or computer.

Though it was very helpful to continue education during lockdown and saved academic year, there were many problems. Poor network in villages, lack of smartphone with many poor students, high data cost and eye problems due to long screen time caused difficulties. Many poor students could not join regularly.

However, teachers worked hard and students cooperated. Attendance was about 70%. It proved that mobile can be used for good purpose like education if used properly. After reopening of school, students thanked teachers for this effort.

Group C: E) Precis Writing

Original: Mobile phone is both blessing and curse… Useful… Harmful if misused… Use properly…

Ans: Precis:

Title: Mobile Phone – A Blessing and a Curse

Mobile phone is a wonderful invention of modern science and is both blessing and curse. As blessing, it is very useful – we can talk anywhere, send messages, use internet, take photos, learn online and it has made life easy and fast.

But as curse, excess and misuse of mobile is very harmful. It causes eye pain, headache, lack of sleep, wastage of time and game addiction, especially among students which spoils studies and health. It also causes accidents if used while driving.

So mobile phone is good servant but bad master. We should use it properly, wisely and limitedly only for good and necessary purposes.

Story – Boy gets mobile – addiction[A]

The Boy and Mobile Addiction – A Lesson

Raju was a good student of Class X in our school. He was meritorious and well behaved. During Covid pandemic, his father bought him a new smartphone for online classes and study purpose. Raju was very happy.

At first he used mobile only for study. But slowly he discovered online games like Free Fire and social media reels. He became addicted gradually. He started playing games till 2 a.m. at night hiding from parents. He neglected studies, did not go to playground, did not sleep well and became irritated.

In December Test Examination, he failed in two subjects – English and Mathematics. His parents and teachers were shocked. He cried and realized his mistake. He understood that mobile addiction had destroyed his result and health. He had eye pain and headache also.

Then he took a strong decision. He promised to use mobile limitedly. He gave mobile to mother and used only 1 hour daily for study under parents supervision. He started reading books in library, played football in evening and studied regularly with concentration.

As a result, in Madhyamik Final Exam, he passed with good marks – 75% and made parents proud. He learnt a great lesson.

Moral: Avoid mobile addiction / Excess of anything is bad / Mobile is good servant but bad master / Time lost is never regained.
