Group A: Letter to your friend describing environment pollution in Asansol.[A]

Ans:

Asansol, 05.09.2026

My dear Raju,

I hope you are well by the grace of God. I am well here too. In your last letter you wanted to know about pollution in our industrial town Asansol. I am writing about it with great concern.

Environment pollution in Asansol is increasing day by day and has become a serious problem. As you know, Asansol is an industrial town with many factories, coal mines, iron and steel plants and heavy traffic. These factories and coal mines emit black smoke and dust all day long. Vehicles like trucks and buses emit poisonous smoke. As a result, air is highly polluted and sky often looks grey.

Damodar river water is also dirty and polluted due to industrial waste, sewage and garbage thrown into it. Plastic bags, garbage and waste lie everywhere on roadsides because people throw them openly. Trees are being cut down for houses and factories, so dust and heat are increasing.

Due to this pollution, people suffer from asthma, lung problems, skin diseases, eye irritation and many health problems. Children and old people suffer most.

We must take action. We must plant more trees, stop using plastic, use public transport and clean garbage regularly. We students have taken out rally also.

What is pollution condition in your town Bankura? How do you protect? Write to me.

Your loving friend, Amit Das Class X, Ramakrishna Vidyapith, Asansol

Sub: Complaint about garbage accumulation and environment pollution in our area Mohishila

Respected Sir,

I beg most respectfully to state that I am Amit Das, a resident of Mohishila Colony, Asansol and student of Class X, Ramakrishna Vidyapith. I want to draw your kind attention to a serious problem of garbage and pollution in our area.

Sir, in our area Mohishila, garbage has not been cleaned for last 10 days. Dustbins are overflowing, plastic, kitchen waste and garbage litter the roads and spread bad smell everywhere. Drains are blocked with plastic and water overflows on road. Mosquitoes and flies are breeding, causing dengue and diseases. Air is polluted with bad smell and dust. Children cannot play outside and people suffer from health problems.

We complained to local conservancy workers but no action was taken. Festival is ahead and if garbage remains, disease will spread more.

Therefore, I kindly request you to take urgent action. Please arrange daily cleaning of garbage, place more covered dustbins, stop open dumping, clean drains and spray bleaching powder. Also please plant some trees and arrange awareness about “Say No to Plastic”.

I hope you will take immediate action for health of citizens.

Thanking you.

Yours faithfully, Amit Das Mohishila Colony, Asansol Date: 05.09.2026

10. Story Writing / Paragraph (10)

Story – Golden Goose[A]

Ans:

The Golden Goose – Greed is a Curse

Once upon a time, there lived a poor farmer in a village near Asansol. He was very poor and worked hard in field but could hardly maintain family.

He had a wonderful goose in his farm. It was not an ordinary goose. It laid one golden egg every day. The farmer took the golden egg to market and sold it for good money. Soon he became rich and built a new house and bought lands. He was very happy with daily one golden egg.

But as time passed, he became very greedy. He thought, “This goose lays only one egg daily. If I kill the goose and cut its belly, I will get all golden eggs at once and become richest man overnight.”

His wife advised him not to be greedy, but he did not listen. Blinded by greed, one day he took a knife and killed the poor goose and cut its belly open to get all eggs.

But alas! There was no egg inside belly. It was like other geese. He lost his wonderful goose and also lost his daily golden egg. He became very sad and repented but it was too late. Due to greed, he became poor again.

Moral: Greed is a curse / Don’t be greedy / Greed brings downfall / Be satisfied with what you have.

Paragraph on “Environmental Pollution and Its Remedies” (150 words)[B]

Ans:

Environmental Pollution and Its Remedies

Environmental pollution is the biggest problem and greatest threat to mankind today. It means making environment dirty and harmful by pollutants.

It is mainly of four types – air pollution caused by smoke from factories, coal mines and vehicles in industrial towns like Asansol, water pollution caused by industrial waste, sewage and garbage thrown into rivers like Damodar, soil pollution caused by plastic and chemicals, and sound pollution caused by loud horns and mikes.

Pollution causes serious effects – asthma, cancer, lung diseases, skin diseases, global warming, acid rain and climate change. People, especially children and old, suffer much.

To prevent pollution, remedies must be taken urgently. We must plant more trees which give oxygen and absorb carbon dioxide, stop using plastic bags and use jute bags, use public transport and cycle, treat factory waste, clean garbage daily and make strict laws. Students should create awareness through rallies.

Government has started projects like Namami Gange, Swachh Bharat and ban on single-use plastic. If we keep environment clean, we will be healthy. So we should all pledge – Plant trees, stop pollution, save life, save earth.    ➣ Next set
