Group A: Letter to younger brother advising him to read newspaper daily and avoid mobile addiction.[A]

Ans:

Asansol, 05.09.2026
My dear Sumit,

I hope you are well by the grace of God. I am also well here. I am very worried to know from your class teacher that you have become addicted to mobile phone and spend 5-6 hours daily on games and social media. My dear brother, this is very harmful for you.

Excess use of mobile phone harms our eyes, causes headache, loss of sleep, lack of concentration and wastes valuable time. It is affecting your studies badly before Madhyamik. You must avoid it.

So I advise you to make a new good habit – reading newspaper daily. Reading newspaper will improve your General Knowledge, current affairs, English vocabulary, spelling and writing skill. It will help you a lot in Madhyamik English and History exam and also for future competitive exams. Read The Statesman or The Telegraph daily for one hour, especially editorial and front page. Keep a diary and note new words.

I hope you will follow my advice from tomorrow and limit mobile use to only 1 hour for study purpose. Take care of your health.

Convey my regards to parents and love to you.

Your loving brother,
Amit

A grand tree plantation programme was organized in our school Ramakrishna Vidyapith, Asansol on 21st July 2026 at 10 a.m. in the school ground to observe Van Mahotsav. The programme was inaugurated by the B.D.O., Asansol Block, who was the Chief Guest. Our Headmaster presided over the function.

At the beginning, the Chief Guest planted a mango sapling and delivered a valuable speech on the importance of trees. He said trees give us oxygen, fruits, shade and prevent air pollution, soil erosion and global warming. He advised students to plant at least one tree each year. The Headmaster also spoke about our duty to save environment.

After that, teachers and all students of Class VIII to X actively participated. About 150 saplings of mango, neem, teak, banyan and guava were planted around the school campus, playground and roadside. Students fenced them with bamboo sticks and promised to water them daily and take care. The programme ended at 1 p.m. with distribution of sweets and saplings among students. Road Accident Near Court More, Asansol
– By Amit Das, Student Reporter, Asansol, 04.09.2026

Yesterday, on 3rd September 2026 at about 5 p.m., I witnessed a tragic and heart-rending road accident near Court More, G.T. Road, Asansol when I was returning home from tuition.

According to eyewitnesses and local people, a speeding private bus bearing No. WB 37 8899 coming from Burnpur side lost control while trying to overtake a car. At the same time a motorbike with two young men coming from opposite direction came in front. The bus hit the motorbike violently. The biker fell down on the road and was seriously injured, bleeding heavily from his head. The pillion rider was also injured. The bus driver tried to flee.

Local people rushed to the spot, stopped traffic and took the injured to Asansol District Hospital by auto. One person’s condition is critical. Police from Asansol South P.S. arrived after 15 minutes, seized the bus and started investigation. The driver absconded.

The accident occurred due to rash and negligent driving and over-speeding. People of that area demanded speed breakers, traffic police and CCTV there to prevent such accidents. This incident reminds us to follow traffic rules.

Group C: E) Write a precis of the following passage (add title):

Original Passage: Discipline is the backbone of character. A man without discipline is like a ship without a rudder. It is necessary in every walk of life. Whether in school, playground, army or family, discipline is essential. A disciplined life leads to success. An army cannot fight without discipline. Players must obey discipline on the field. Nature also shows discipline. The sun rises, seasons change in a disciplined way. So we should be disciplined from childhood.

Ans: Precis:

Title: Value of Discipline in Life

Discipline is the backbone of character and essential for success. A man without discipline is like a ship without a rudder which cannot reach destination. It is necessary in every sphere of life like school, playground, army and family. An army and players cannot succeed without discipline. Even nature maintains discipline – the sun rises timely and seasons change in order. Therefore, we should learn discipline from childhood to build a successful and meaningful life.

10. Story Writing / Paragraph (10)

Write a story using hints: A crow finds a pitcher…[A]

Ans:

The Thirsty Crow – Intelligence Wins

Once upon a time, on a very hot summer day, a black crow became very thirsty. The sun was scorching. It flew from tree to tree, field to field, in search of water but could not find water anywhere. All ponds and canals were dried up. It was almost going to die.

At last it saw a pitcher in the garden of a house. It flew down and saw that there was a little water at the bottom of the pitcher. It became very happy but its happiness did not last long. It tried to put its beak into the pitcher to drink water but its beak could not reach the water because water level was very low.

The crow did not lose hope. It looked around and saw some small stones nearby. At once a clever plan came to its mind. It picked up stones one by one with its beak and dropped them into the pitcher. After dropping many stones, slowly the water level rose up to the neck of the pitcher. Then the crow drank water to its heart’s content and flew away happily with a sense of achievement.

Moral: Where there is a will, there is a way / Necessity is the mother of invention / Intelligence wins.

Write a paragraph on “Environmental Pollution” (120-150 words)[B]

Ans:

Environmental Pollution – A Threat to Mankind

Environmental pollution is one of the biggest and most alarming threats to mankind and all living beings today. It means contamination of environment by harmful and poisonous materials, making it dirty and unfit for living.

Pollution is mainly of four kinds – air, water, soil and sound pollution. Air pollution is caused by smoke from factories, vehicles and burning of fossil fuels. Water pollution is caused by industrial waste, sewage and plastic thrown into rivers. Soil pollution is caused by excessive use of chemicals, pesticides and plastic. Sound pollution is caused by loud horns, loudspeakers and mills.

Pollution causes serious effects. It causes diseases like asthma, bronchitis, cancer, cholera and lung problems. It causes global warming, acid rain and depletion of ozone layer. Many species are becoming extinct.

To prevent pollution we should plant more trees, avoid plastic, use public transport and jute bags, and control industrial waste. Government has launched projects like Namami Gange, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and ban on single-use plastic. Students and common people should create awareness. We all must work together to keep our environment clean, green and healthy for future generations.   ➣ Next set
