Asansol, 05.09.2026
My dear Priya,
I hope you are well. I am well here too. In your last letter you asked about how I am continuing my studies after Class VIII despite financial problem. Today I want to tell you about a wonderful scheme – Kanyashree Prakalpa, which has changed my life.
Kanyashree Prakalpa is a great and famous scheme of our West Bengal Government started by our Honourable Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in 2013. It is for girl students like us who want to study but have financial problem.
Under this scheme, girl students studying in Class VIII to XII and unmarried and age 13 to 18 get Rs. 1000 per year as K1 scholarship. And when a girl is 18 years old, still studying in school or college and unmarried, she gets one-time grant of Rs. 25,000 as K2. This money helps us to buy books, uniform and continue study.
Its benefits are huge. It prevents child marriage, stops school dropout, empowers girls, makes us self-dependent and confident. Lakhs of girls in Bengal are benefited. It has even won United Nations Public Service Award in 2017. Our school gives forms every year.
I have got Kanyashree K1 and I am continuing studies. You are also eligible, you are 14 years, studying in Class IX and unmarried. You should immediately apply with birth certificate, Aadhaar, school certificate. Don’t miss this golden chance.
Write to me after you apply.

Group C: E) Precis Writing
Original: Education of girls is very important. An educated girl can educate a family… Kanyashree helps in this… We should educate girls…
Ans: Precis:
Title: Importance of Girl Education and Role of Kanyashree
Girl education is extremely important for progress of family, society and nation. An educated girl educates whole family, takes right decisions, prevents child marriage and becomes self-dependent and confident. Napoleon rightly said, “Give me educated mothers, I will give you educated nation”.
Kanyashree Prakalpa of West Bengal Government helps greatly in this regard by giving scholarship to lakhs of girls from Class VIII to college to continue education and stop child marriage. It empowers girls.
So we all, government and society, should come forward to educate girls, give them equal opportunity and make them self-reliant. Educating a girl means developing a nation.

Story – Thirsty Crow[A]
Ans:
The Thirsty Crow – Where There is a Will, There is a Way
Once upon a time, on a very hot summer day, the sun was scorching. A black crow became very thirsty. Its throat was dry. It flew from tree to tree, field to field, roof to roof in search of water but could not find water anywhere. All ponds and canals were dried up. It was almost going to die of thirst.
At last it saw a pitcher lying in the courtyard of a house. It flew down quickly and saw that there was a little water at the bottom of the pitcher. It became very happy. But its happiness did not last long because its beak could not reach the water as water level was very low.
The clever crow did not lose hope or fly away. It looked around and saw some small stones nearby. At once a clever plan came to its mind. It picked up stones one by one with its beak and dropped them into the pitcher. After dropping many stones, slowly the water level rose up to the neck of the pitcher.
Then the thirsty crow drank water to its heart’s content and flew away happily, cawing with joy. Its intelligence and perseverance saved its life.
Moral: Where there is a will, there is a way / Necessity is the mother of invention / Intelligence and patience lead to success.
OR
Paragraph on “Importance of Girl Education” (120-150 words)[B]
Ans:
Importance of Girl Education
Girl education is very important and essential for development of family, society and nation. It is said, “If you educate a man, you educate an individual, but if you educate a woman, you educate a whole family and nation”.
An educated girl can read, write, take right decisions, get jobs, become self-dependent and confident. She can prevent child marriage, dowry system and poverty. She can raise her children well, teach them good manners and help them in studies. An educated mother gives us an educated nation – as Napoleon said, “Give me educated mothers, I will give you educated nation”.
In West Bengal, Kanyashree Prakalpa has done miracle by giving scholarship to lakhs of girls from Class VIII to college, preventing dropout and child marriage and making them self-reliant. Educated girls are now doctors, teachers, police and leaders.
Without girl education, no nation can progress. So government should give more scholarships, free books and safe schools. Parents should send daughters to school equally with sons. Let us all pledge – Educate a girl, develop a nation, make future bright.
