My dear Rahul,

I hope you are well by the grace of God. I am well too. You will be glad to know that yesterday I watched a very thrilling and memorable football match in our city and I want to share my experience with you.

Yesterday, on 4th September 2026, I went to watch the final match of Asansol Inter-School Football Tournament at Asansol Stadium between Mohun Bagan Junior and East Bengal Junior teams. I went with my father. The stadium was fully crowded with about 5000 spectators. The atmosphere was electric with drums, flags and shouting.

The match started at 4 p.m. Both teams played very well with great skill. In the 20th minute East Bengal scored first goal and led 1-0. The crowd roared. After half-time, our team Mohun Bagan played more aggressively. In 60th minute they equalized with a beautiful header. The match became more exciting. In the last minute, in 89th minute, Mohun Bagan scored the winning goal from a free kick. The crowd jumped with joy and shouted “Joy Mohun Bagan”. Mohun Bagan won 2-1 and got trophy.

I enjoyed the match very much. It was a great experience of teamwork, discipline and excitement. I wish you were with me.

My dear Bhai Sumit,

I hope you are well. I am also well here. I have heard from Maa that you spend whole day sitting at home playing mobile games and video games and do not go to playground at all. I am very worried about your health.

My dear brother, excess mobile and video games are very harmful. It damages eyes, causes headache, back pain, obesity and makes mind dull and irritated. It wastes time and affects studies badly.

So I advise you to play outdoor games like football, cricket, badminton at least one hour daily in the evening with friends. Outdoor games have huge benefits. They make our body fit, strong and active, make mind fresh and cheerful, increase concentration for studies, teach discipline, teamwork, leadership and sportsman spirit. They also give us many friends and joy which mobile can never give.

If you play football daily, your health will be good and you will study better. I used to be weak before, but after playing football I am fit now. So leave mobile and go to field from tomorrow.

Hope you will follow my advice and make me proud.

Asansol, 14th January 2026: The Annual Sports Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm, joy and sportsman spirit in Ramakrishna Vidyapith, Asansol yesterday.

The function started at 10 a.m. in our big school ground which was beautifully decorated with flags and balloons. The B.D.O., Asansol Block was the Chief Guest. The Headmaster inaugurated the sports by hoisting flag and lighting the torch. About 600 students, all teachers and many guardians were present.

Many events were held throughout the day – 100m race, 200m race, long jump, high jump, shot put, relay race and tug of war. Students participated with great zeal. The main attraction of the day was an exhibition football match between Class IX and Class X at 2 p.m.

The football match was very thrilling. Both teams played with skill and team spirit. Class IX scored first goal in first half. But Class X equalized and scored winning goal in second half. Class X won the match 2-1. The crowd cheered loudly and supported their teams.

At 4 p.m. prize distribution ceremony was held. The Chief Guest gave away prizes, medals and trophies to winners and praised the sportsman spirit of students. He gave speech on importance of sports for health and discipline.

The day ended at 4.30 p.m. with National Anthem and sweet distribution. All enjoyed the day very much. It created great interest for sports among students.

Asansol, 18th Dec 2022: Argentina’s historic World Cup victory was celebrated with great joy, excitement and festivity in our locality Asansol last night.

Yesterday night on 18th December 2022, Argentina beat France 4-2 in tie-breaker in Qatar World Cup Final after 3-3 draw. It was Messi’s dream victory. Football lovers had arranged a big screen in Court More and about 1000 people watched the match together.

As soon as Argentina won, the whole area burst into celebration. Youths burst crackers, blew green colours, waved Argentina flags and danced in the streets shouting “Messi! Messi! Viva Argentina!”. Messi fans were crying with joy. Many wore Argentina jerseys. Sweets were distributed among all.

A procession with big cutout of Messi was taken out till midnight with drums and music. Social media was flooded with Messi photos. People said Messi is the greatest footballer of all time and this World Cup was his.

The celebration continued till midnight and was peaceful. It showed how football unites people beyond country.

Story – Hare and Tortoise[A]

Ans:

The Hare and the Tortoise – Slow and Steady Wins the Race

Once upon a time, in a dense forest, there lived a hare. He was very fast and proud of his speed. He always boasted about his speed and laughed at other slow animals.

One day he saw a tortoise walking very slowly. The hare laughed loudly and said, “You are so slow! You can never run fast.” The tortoise felt insulted and calmly replied, “Though I am slow, I can beat you in a race.”

The hare laughed more and accepted the challenge. A fox was made judge. A race track was fixed from the banyan tree to the hill. All animals gathered to watch.

Next morning race started. The hare ran very fast like wind and was far ahead. The tortoise walked slowly and steadily behind. After running half way, the hare looked back and saw tortoise far behind. He thought, “Tortoise is very slow, I have much time, let me take rest for a while under this shady tree.” He lay down and soon fell into deep sleep.

The tortoise walked slowly but steadily without stopping. After some time he crossed the sleeping hare and moved towards goal.

When the hare woke up after one hour, he saw tortoise near the winning line. He ran very fast but it was too late. The tortoise had already reached the goal and won the race. All animals clapped for tortoise. The proud hare hung his head in shame and learnt a lesson.

Moral: Slow and steady wins the race / Pride has a fall / Overconfidence leads to failure.

My Favourite Game – Football

My favourite game is football. It is the most popular and thrilling game in the world and is called king of games. It is my passion.

Football is played between two teams with eleven players each and a referee. It needs a large ground, two goal posts and a football. The aim is to score goals by kicking ball into opponent’s net. It lasts 90 minutes with two halves.

I love to play football every evening with my friends in our school ground. I am a striker in our school team. Playing football makes my body fit, strong and active and my mind fresh and cheerful. It also teaches me discipline, teamwork, leadership, unity and sportsman spirit.

My favourite player is Lionel Messi of Argentina. I am also a great fan of Mohun Bagan club. I never miss World Cup matches on TV. The thrill of watching a goal is indescribable.
